Rosario [AR] - Delivery of new trolleybuses

27.02.17 - Since late January the first of 12 new "Megapolis" trolleys from the Russian supplier TROLZA have been bound by sea to South America. From St. Petersburg the vehicles were shipped via Antwerp to Buenos Aires/Zarate. In Rosario, the single units will be used on the new line Q, which uses part of the existing catenary of trolleybus route K, before running for long sections off-wire in battery mode. As such, the new low-floor trolleys are fitted with lithium-ion batteries allowing them up to 20 km of range extension beyond the power lines. The package price for all 12 trolleys is around 3.5 ... more

Urgentsch [UZ] - Network expansion planned

27.02.17 - The only surviving trolleybus system in Uzbekistan features comparatively modern services. With a total length of 33 km, the Urgench line actually is the second-longest overland trolleybus route worldwide, right after Crimea. A fleet of 9 Skoda Electric/Irisbus 24Tr is available and actively deployed on revenue services. These low-floor units were delivered in 2013. Of the previously supplied Skoda 14Tr and 14TrM, 4 units have been scrapped, while 002, 004, 006, 008 and 009 are out of use at the local depot. ... more

Plzen [CZ] - Seven new battery trolleybuses in revenue service

20.02.17 - On 11 February 2017, the new Solaris/Skoda 26Tr trolleybuses with auxiliary battery packs were first used in regular service. The seven units have been numbered 565-571 and were initially used on line 13, including the off-wire section from the shopping center Olympia to Černice. On line 12, the new battery trolleys are used beyond the power lines on the overland section to the neighboring commune Letkov. ... more

Esslingen [DE] - Presentation of the new In-Motion-Charging-Batterie-Buses

Coimbra [PT] - Infrastructure renewal planned, fleet renewal deferred

13.02.17 - As part of the latest investment plan of the local public transport company STMUC, the replacement of two more than 50-year old substations is planned. The new facilities will consume less energy and help the general process of infrastructure renewal. At the same time, fleet modernization has not yet been given the go-ahead and the 33-year old EFACEC/CAETANO trolleybuses will have to soldier on. Although nominally 11 such vintage vehicles are available for revenue service, only a handful are actually operational. They are complemented by the only low-floor trolleybus in the fleet, a ... more

Das "TROLLEY" - Video

The TROLLEY movie is another piece of the puzzle of the promotion activities of the "TROLLEY"-project to shape a new and more positive image of trolleybuses in Europe. The movie is based on interviews with local and regional stakeholders, which were performed in the TROLLEY partner cities Salzburg (Austria), Brno (Czech Republic), Eberswalde (Germany), Parma (Italy), Gdynia (Poland) and Szeged (Hungary). The movie highlights advantages of trolleybuses and raises hopes in what could be improved in the future to raise awareness of trolleybuses as smart, clean and green solution for urban public transportation.
