Rosario [AR] - First Megapolis trolleys arrive

08.05.17 - In April, the first 5 of 12 type Megapolis trolleybuses arrived in Argentina. The Trolza-built vehicles reached their destination after a 3-month journey from Russia. Two of the single units have already been painted in the current orange and silver color scheme of the local operator SEMTUR, while the three others are still blue. The 12 new trolleys are intended for use on line Q, which thereby will feature electric services. Thanks to their auxiliary battery packs, the new trolleys can run under the existing catenary, before shifting into off-wire mode. Once back under the wires, the ... more

Beijing [CN] - BRT2-route electrified

03.04.17 - On 6 March 2017 the first of five new Foton-built articulated trolleybuses started electric services on BRT2. Although this route has already been in service since 2008, it previously was only used by diesel vehicles. The line has its own bus lane for most of the way and is presently being electrified over the full distance of 13.9 km. As soon as the infrastructure will allow for it, more trolleybuses will get deployed on BRT2. In order to sustain electric services, two substations have been built. The Foton articulated trolleys are fitted with lithium-ion batteries, to enable off-wire ... more

Das "TROLLEY" - Video

The TROLLEY movie is another piece of the puzzle of the promotion activities of the "TROLLEY"-project to shape a new and more positive image of trolleybuses in Europe. The movie is based on interviews with local and regional stakeholders, which were performed in the TROLLEY partner cities Salzburg (Austria), Brno (Czech Republic), Eberswalde (Germany), Parma (Italy), Gdynia (Poland) and Szeged (Hungary). The movie highlights advantages of trolleybuses and raises hopes in what could be improved in the future to raise awareness of trolleybuses as smart, clean and green solution for urban public transportation.
